Q6: How to conserve fishing resources via a seafood revolution at dining tables?
Climate change is putting severe stress on the sustainability of many resources, including livestock and seafood supply. Production patterns and levels are bound to change dramatically in the next few decades. Yet at the current consumption level little emphasis has been placed on the widely varied carbon footprints of meat types, and the worsening problem of overfishing. The challenge is for Hong Kong to contribute to the sustainable development of the meat and seafood industries whilst maintaining our quality of life.

衛星技術監察非法補魚
非法捕魚行為一向很難被發現。有非牟利組織和一間衛星技術公司合作﹐研究以衛星雷達來監察海洋保育區裡的非法捕魚活動。以往衛星技術多用於軍事機構,現因為技術進步和價錢大幅下降,可應用於更多地方。

減少進口及提高非可持續捕獲海鮮的成本

香港食用的珊瑚魚類除了由魚排養殖外,主要是從印尼等地入口,而且食用量大。或可以透過類似以上新聞連結提到的方式,將其他關瀕危或非可持續捕獲海鮮加到禁運清單當中,亦可以透過其他如加收一定附加運費作保育或推廣可持續海鮮用途的措施去提高運送,以致食客的成本支出。有關額外所得的費用收益會用作資源保育及推廣教育,改變食客的食用習慣、以及漁民對海鮮資源認知。

3. Table stand to provide info on sustainable seafood carts
4. Seafood origin app
5. Restaurants provide options of sustainable seafood
6. Label restaurants with environmental friendly effort ranks/ badges
7. Sustainable fish certification
